Meteorites and Origins of Solar System

Hsien Shang and collaborators, Matthieu Gounelle, Frank Shu, Al Glassgold, Ernst Rehm, and Typhoon Lee, have calculated the yields of 7Be produced by solar system irradiation in the framework of x-wind irradiation model (Lee et al. 1998, Shu et al 2001, Gounelle 2001). Two types of irradiations have been calculated thus far, one with gradual flares, and the other with impulsive flares with nuclear reaction in the solid phase. It is however possible to reconcile the yields at the latest results reported by Chaussidon et al (2003) with the experimental data if a gas phase production of 7Be is taken into account. More detailed calculations are being done and further interpretation of origins of the extinct radionuclides are to be discussed in a manuscript in preparation).
